EQ Credit 4: Low-Emitting Materials

There is a maximum of 4 credits in this section.

The least you need to know are the materials corresponding to each credit:
1) adhesives and sealant
2) paint and coating
3) carpet systems
4) composite wood + agrifiber products

You will also need to remember the organizations that sets the minimum requirement for each credit:
Adhesives and sealant - South Coast Air Quality Management District
Sealant used as fillers - Bay Area Air Quality Management District Regulation
Carpet - Carpet and Rug Institute's Green Label Indoor Air Quality Test Program
Composite wood - South Coast Air Quality Management District

MR 4.2 - references Green Seal GS-11
MR 4.3 - Green Label
MR 4.4 - no standard, just no urea formaldehyde resins in composite wood

This section is talking about EQ not MR.

Please note, there is no 4.3 or 4.4 in MR. There are only MR 4.1 + 4.2 which talks about "Recycled Content" not "Low-Emitting Materials".

Ooops! I have been studying this stuff for days straight. LOL! Definitely EQ, not MR!!!

How do you define a urea formaldehyde resin?

How would test for a UF resin? ASTM E1333 tests for formaldehyde, and LECO tests for nitrogen, but none show a test for the UF resin.

thanks
